A five year old Tifton boy was struck by an SUV as he left the sidewalk riding on an electric scooter. The driver of the Ford Explorer did not see the child who was airlifted to children’s hospital in Atlanta with serious injuries. No charges were filed.
41 year old Samuel Bryant of Albany is no longer a fugitive from the law. He has been arrested and formally charged with arson and murder in the case involving the death of 26 year old Cordale Brown in November of 2014.
Members of the Georgia House have voted against a measure that passed out of the state Senate; it would have granted easements to the Sabal Trails Natural Gas Pipeline Company. The pipeline easements would have impacted five waterways in Georgia including the Flint River. However, Sabal officials say that this is only a delay, and supporters of the denial of the easements say that they know there are more battles to come.
The Associated Press reports that the state has set an execution date for a man convicted of killing a woman in 1996. According to Department of Corrections Commissioner Homer Bryson the execution of Kenneth Fults has been scheduled for April 12. Fults was convicted in 1997 of killing Cathy Bounds, who was shot five times. Prosecutors say Fults killed Bounds after breaking into her house during a week-long crime spree. Another Georgia inmate, Joshua Bishop, is set to be executed March 31.
