VALDOSTA – The Lowndes County Commission revised the county’s animal services ordinance this week by strengthening animal cruelty laws and prohibiting the selling of pets in parking lots.

It is now illegal to sell kittens and puppies in parking lots in Lowndes County. The updated ordinance also includes a “clearer definition of animal cruelty” to include pet owners who allow their pets to suffer without properly caring for them.

The ordinance only applies to unincorporated areas of Lowndes County.
