VALDOSTA – A Valdosta City School bus was stuck by a car Tuesday morning on Inner Perimeter Road, according to reports from the Valdosta Police Department.
At approximately 7:21 a.m., a VCS school bus driver travelling with an empty bus on Inner Perimeter Road and stopped the bus at a railroad crossing near Jaycee Shack Road, said VPD Lt. Kari Williams.
“The bus driver stopped the bus at the railroad crossing as required by law,” Williams said. “The vehicle traveling behind the bus, a Nissan Maxima, failed to stop and rear-ended the bus.”
The bus driver reportedly complained of injuries and was taken to South Georgia Medical Center for treatment. The Nissan driver was not injured during the incident and was cited for following too closely, reports stated.
“The bus sustained minor damage, and the Nissan sustained major damage,” Williams said.
