NORMAN PARK — The tragic shooting death of a disabled Norman Park man has resulting in the arrest of seven teens.

John Hester, 68 of Norman Park, was found shot outside of his home on Georgia Highway 256 in Norman Park on July 5.

Authorities have announced the arrest of seven teens related to that murder, all from Colquitt County.

Adrian Robinson, 19, Brandon Wynn, 18, Christian Glover, 18, Derrick Phillips, 18, Ty’Cameron Hayes, 18, Tykerious Jones, 17, and I-Key Pinkins, 18, are each charged with murder and Criminal Intent to Commit Armed Robbery.

Reports from WCTV stated GBI reports that the teens stole firearms and electronics from Hester’s home the day of the murder.  They also note that Hester’s own gun may have been used in his death.

WCTV interviewed GBI Assistant Special Agent in Charge, Bahan Rich, who said, “The group planned on robbing Mr. Hester’s son, who lives across the road. During that attempt, Mr. Hester encountered them, shots were exchanged between the two, and of course Mr. Hester was struck by one of the bullets and subsequently died.”

Rich went on to say in the report that authorities currently have no reason to believe Hester or his son had any ties with the suspects.  He also noted they believe Hester was trying to protect his son when the murder occurred.

Hester was transported to Archbold Memorial Hospital after authorities arrived, though he later died.
