FITZGERALD –A Fitzgerald woman has won a Georgia Lottery instant ticket prize of $300,000.

Rosie Lee Harper, 63, won the top prize playing the instant game Super Loteria, and claimed her money last week.

She bought the ticket at the H & R Food Mart, 1507 Watson Blvd. in Warner Robins.

“I was just sitting down and thought to play,” she said.

Harper, a recently retired medical housekeeper, scratched her ticket at home. “I couldn’t say anything at first,” she said. “My grandchildren were outside. I was hollering so loud, they called their dad.”

Harper, a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, plans to buy a house with her winnings.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $16.2 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.7 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.3 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
