VALDOSTA — Valdosta police are investigating a house fire that took place on Tuesday, Jan. 3, around 1 a.m at 409 Cypress Street.
There were two residents inside of the home at the time of the fire, 54-year-old Debra Price was able to make it out of the home to call for help. The police report states that when the first respondents arrived on the scene she was “fully engulfed in flames.”
Unfortunately, firefighters found the deceased body of 72-year-old James Brown inside the home.
Price suffered from full-body, life-threatening burns and was air-lifted to Shands Hospital.
Brown was sent to the GBI Medical Examiner to determine his cause of death.
Officials believe the fire was not intentional. The fire is still under investigation by Arson Investigators from the fire department.
