VALDOSTA — Yesterday, Jan. 12, 40-year-old Monica Jones was arrested for assaulting her husband, 49-year-old Edward Jones. On Sunday, Jan. 11, Mrs. Jones hit Mr. Jones on the head with a hammer on the 1300 block of Ponderosa Drive.

In an interview with WALB, VPD’s Lieutenant Aaron Kirk said, “The officers got there and there was a large group of people out there. They determined that the married couple had gotten into an argument and at some point the female struck the male in the head with a hammer.”

Edward Jones was sent to South Georgia Medical Center and has since been released.

Monica Jones was arrested and charged with aggravated assault.
