Lowndes County School System Class of 2020 SAT Scores Released

The Lowndes High School Class of 2020 earned a mean composite score of 1061, compared to the mean state score of 1043, and the mean national score of 1030. Principal LeAnne McCall stated, “We are certainly proud of the SAT scores earned by our Lowndes High School students and commend them for this outstanding accomplishment. Additionally, we recognize that these scores reflect the expertise and dedication of the Lowndes High School educators who have such a vital role in preparing students in their pursuit of academic success.” The LHS Class of 2020 overcame the challenges during this unprecedented time and outperformed both the state and nation on last year’s SAT administration.

Superintendent Wes Taylor added, “In the LCSS we strive to improve each and every day, and these scores are indicative of the efforts of our students and teachers in our elementary schools, middle schools, and Lowndes High School. We are proud of their dedication and commitment to excellence.” The mean composite score is based on student performance in Evidence-Based Reading and Writing (ERW) and Math. In Evidence-Based Reading & Writing, students at LHS received a mean score of 545, thirteen points higher than the state, and twenty-five points higher than the nation. When looking at historical data, beginning with the 2017 administration of the newly designed SAT, LHS students have gleaned higher mean scores each year in the area of Evidence-Based Reading and Writing than those recorded by both the state and nation.
