VALDOSTA, Ga. – On November 3, 2019, at approximately 3:37 a.m., officers with the Valdosta Police Department responded to the 300 block of East Gordon Street to a person entering a vehicle unlawfully.

A VPD incident report said the offender was later identified as Timothy Jones, 38, of Valdosta.

As officers were on the way to the scene, the victim advised that Jones was leaving in a vehicle and he provided a description of it.

Officers observed the vehicle the victim had described and conducted a traffic stop, taking Jones into custody.  Through a VPD investigation, officers reportedly determined that Jones had broken into a vehicle. Jones was transported to Lowndes County Jail on the charge of Entering an Automobile Or Other Motor Vehicle With Intent To Commit Theft Or Felony.

“The victim in case did great communicating what he observed the offender doing, so our officers were able to bring this case to a positive conclusion,” remarked VPD Lt. Scottie Johns. “We need everyone to remember the holiday season is quickly approaching, so make sure to lock your vehicles and do not leave anything of value inside them.”
