VALDOSTA — Atlanta protestors were arrested after demanding that Lowndes High School honor a student that died in January, 2013.

The Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office reported that the protestors were asked to stop their attempt to get to the high school, but they refused. Five of the protestors were arrested and charged with criminal trespassing at the Board of Education building.

The protestors are members of a group called, “commUNITY Atlanta” and claimed that they walked 17 miles a day for four days in honor of LHS student, Kendrick Johnson.

The protestors demanded that the high school host a four minute moment of silence in honor of Kendrick and their four day walk at the LHS 2015 graduation ceremony. They also asked that Johnson’s sister, Kenyetta walk at the graduation in place of Kendrick and receive an honorary diploma.
