Thomas Douglas Hamblin, 77, of Statenville, died on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at Advent Christian Village in Dowling Park, Florida following a lengthy illness. He was born on June 10, 1944, in Birmingham, Alabama to Douglas Hamblin and Muriel Green Barnett. Mr. Hamblin was a retired city driver with Roadway and was a member of Statenville United Methodist Church. He enjoyed greatly sharing the gospel of Christ to all who would listen. Mr. Hamblin loved fishing, drinking coffee, rooting for Alabama Crimson Tide, animals of all kinds, and above all, his grandchildren that were his world. After retiring with Roadway, he was a school bus driver with the Echols County School System.


He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Margaret Hamblin of Statenville; his son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Angie Hamblin of Statenville; two daughters and a son-in-law, Muriel and Chris Foster of Albany, Georgia, and Ivy Hamblin of Tampa, Florida; his grandchildren, Will Vedder, Caleb Vedder, Grace and Brandon Manac, Thomas Hamblin, Blake Hamblin, Brooke Hamblin, and Michael Collins; his brother, Bill Barnett of Fort Worth, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, George William Barnett and Muriel Green Barnett and a brother, Johnny Hamblin.
Services for Thomas Douglas Hamblin will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 5, 2021, in the chapel of the McLane Lakewood Funeral Home. The burial will follow in the Enoch Creek Cemetery.
