Ollie Beatrice Johnson was born on April 5, 1929, to the late Mr. Sam and the late Neva M. Jennings, in Madison County, FL. She lived in Adel, GA until 1973, then she moved to Valdosta, GA.
 


Beatrice was a hardworking and dedicated woman who was a chef and a foster care provider for
adults. She joined the Cottrell Chapel CME Church in Sparks, GA, where she served as an
usher. She would later join the Greater Pleasant Temple Church where she sang in the choir and
was the Mother of the Church. Beatrice was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and
the Social Saving Club.
 
On Wednesday, March 11, 2020, at South Georgia Medical Center, Valdosta, GA, another
soldier was called home.
 
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband: Willie Johnson; four sons:
Joe Sheffield, Jr., Bobby Sheffield, Leroy Sheffield and Willie J. Johnson; three daughters:
Willie Mae Whitfield, Elizabetha Morris and Essie Hamilton; three sisters: Ethel Miller, Mattie
Mae Lott, and Eunice Walker; two brothers: John Jennings and Jessie Jennings.
 
Beatrice leaves to cherish her memories to her loving children: six daughters: Louise Garden,
Joann Simmons (both of Valdosta, GA), Betty Adams (Anzavino) of Fayetteville, NC, Ollie
Faye Scott, Vinell Covington, Idell Sanders (Solomon) all of Adel, GA, four sons: J.B. Sheffield,
David Johnson (Betty) of Valdosta, GA, Elonnie Johnson (Gloria) of Adel, GA, James Johnson
(Barbara) of Warner Robins, GA; son in-law: John Whitfield of Valdosta, GA; sisters: Mary
Green of Atlanta, GA and Doris Brown of Jacksonville, FL; grandson (whom she helped raised)
Vance Frazier; sixteen grandchildren, twenty-nine great grandchildren; two great great
grandchildren; two sisters in-law: Penny Johnson and Bernita Jennings; a special nephew: Roy
Grant; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
 
 
 The Celebration of Life for the late Mrs. Ollie Beatrice Johnson will be Wednesday, March 18,
2020, 12:00 p.m., Greater Pleasant Temple Baptist Church, 309 Cherry Street, Valdosta, GA.
Public Visitation will be Tuesday, March 17, 2020, 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Pastor Bernard L. Robinson, Sr. will officiate.
