Retired Master Sergeant Samuel Jones, Sr. was born January 19, 1951, in Brooks County, GA, to the late John E. Jones, Sr. and the late Jewell Roberts Jones.

Samuel L. Jones, Sr., honorable father and grandfather, was a loving and strong willed man. He lived a life that demonstrated the core values of an Airmen: Integrity First. Samuel was a man of integrity, courage and conviction. He exercised courage, honesty and accountability in order to do what is right even when no one is looking.

Always caring for others, he took precedence over his personal desires. His works were always warm and wise. He always had your best interest at heart. Samuel was a mentor, confident and friend, someone on whose love you could depend.

On Sunday, September 1, 2019, this honorable airman transitioned to his heavenly flight.

In addition to his parents, the late John E. Jones, Sr. and Jewell Roberts Jones, he is preceded by his grand-parents: Rev. Lynn Roberts, Carrie Hawkins-Roberts, Goss Roberts, Emmanuel Jones and Emma Jones; three brothers: John E. Jones, Jr, Charles H. Jones, and Rufus Jones, Sr.; and one brother in-law: Willie L. Wiseman.

Samuel leaves to celebrate his life and to cherish precious memories, six children: Katrina Grimes of Covington, GA, Shana Jones-Gilbert of Phoenix, AZ, Aletha Jones (Howard) of Phoenix, AZ, Samuel Jones, II (Valerie) of San Antonio, TX, Ralena Jones (Charles) of Phoenix, AZ, and John A. Jones of Jacksonville, FL; his three sisters: Mary E. Wiseman of Valdosta, GA, Lee M. Barron (Don) of Valdosta, GA, and Emma J. Holden (Jeffrey) of Chesapeake, VA; his four brothers: Lynn Jones (Brenda) of Valdosta, GA, David E. Jones (Sallie) of Shiloh, GA, Edward J. Jones (Sylvia) of Waldorf, MD, and Derrick Jones (Tonia) of Douglas, GA; his aunts and uncles: Mary L. Jones of Quitman, GA, Carrie McKinney, Elder Bartow Williams (Lucille), Sarah Roberts, Joseph Roberts, and Demetrius Roberts (Patricia), all of Valdosta, GA; two sisters in-law: Bernadette Jones and Rita Jones; his twelve grandchildren; four special friends: John Hamm, Anthony Gosier, Charlie Ashley, and Evelyn Jones, all of Atlanta, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

The Celebration of Life for the late Ret. MSgt. Samuel Jones, Sr., USAF will be Saturday September 14, 2019, 11:00 a.m. from the sanctuary of New Life Ministries, Valdosta.

Senior Pastor J. Bernard Braswell, II will officiate.

Entombment, Riverview Memorial Gardens.

Public viewing, Friday, September 13, 2019, 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Godfrey Funeral Home.
