On Friday, September 6th, 2019, Mrs. Doris Linger of Valdosta passed away in her sleep at the Presbyterian Home in Quitman, GA. The family is comforted knowing she had a strong faith in Christ. She was a professional musician, educator, and church administrator. More importantly, she was a loving Mother to her two daughters, Judi and Susan, and her son, Michael. Doris touched many lives with her generosity and quiet, gentle love. She was a prolific writer of birthday and anniversary cards to friends and family. She collected owls, played violin, and participated in community musical ensembles such as the Camarata String Quartet, Valdosta Choral Guild, Valdosta Symphony Orchestra (founding member), and others.
Mrs. Linger is survived by her two daughters Judi Linger and Susan Shultz, and her son, Michael Linger, her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Tom and Julie Linger, grandchildren Alisha Shultz and Amanda Shultz, several great-grandchildren, and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Bernard Linger of Valdosta State University, as well as her parents and stepmother, Earl and Lottie Conley, and Nettie Conley.
