Charles Brennis (Chuck) Yates, Jr., 67, of Barney, died on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at his residence. He was born on February 18, 1952 in Hahira, Georgia and has been a lifelong resident of this area. He retired from Hickman Transport and was a member of the Barney United Methodist Church. Chuck was an avid Atlanta Braves fan, but was just as passionate about college football and the Jacksonville Jaguars. He loved to read and his home was full of books. 
Survivors include his mother and step-father, Joann and Clay Joiner of St. Mary’s, Georgia; an uncle, Carol B. Moore, Jr., of St. Mary’s; an aunt, Jane Lastinger of Snellville, Georgia; numerous loving cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Yates Sr., and his brother, David Yates. 
A memorial service for Chuck Yates will be held at a later date and time and will be announced by the Martin McLane Funeral Home. Committal will be held in the Campground Cemetery in Morven. Condolences to the family may be conveyed online at www.mclanecares.com Martin/McLane.
