John Alan Barton, of Hahira, Georgia, passed away Monday, March 18, 2019 after battling a lengthy illness. He was born to the late Keith and Geraldine Ruth Barton in Hodgdon, Maine on May 28, 1949. He served for three years in the United States Army before moving onto a career in wire and cable engineering for which he practiced for 41 years. He was a family man who enjoyed playing golf with buddies, drinking beer, and spending time with his daughter and granddaughter. He was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Patty Brown Barton of Hahira, Georgia; a daughter and son-in-law Nikki and Richard Auen Jr. of Gallatin, Tennessee; a granddaughter, Savannah Grace Auen of Gallatin, Tennessee; three brothers, Ken Barton (Carla), Ronnie Barton, and Larry Barton; six sisters, Janie Barton, Carol Barton Perron (Steve), Crystal Ainsworth (Herbie) , Cindy Peters (Mike), Sally Geer, Peggy Matzdorff (Paul), and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Terry Barton.
