VALDOSTA — The superintendent of Valdosta City Schools, Mr. E. Martin Roesch, informed the Valdosta Board of Education about his plans to retire on Monday, February 9, 2015. His last day of employment with the district will be Friday, May 29, 2015.

“After thoughtful consideration, I have decided to retire. I have genuinely enjoyed every level of my employment with Valdosta City Schools and have been honored to serve as superintendent,” said Roesch. “I would like to thank Valdosta City Schools for the many opportunities I have had throughout my career. Although I am looking forward to this new stage in my life, I will miss the daily interactions I have with the faculty, staff and students of our district.”

Roesch became the superintendent of Valdosta City Schools in February of 2013 and has spent his entire career working within the district. The board of education will begin a search soon to replace the retiring superintendent.
