LOWNDES COUNTY, GA – The Lowndes High Vikings have finalized their 2014 football schedule.  The eleven (11) game schedule features seven (7) home contests including a first ever doubleheader classic to be played at Martin Stadium.  Lowndes opens the preseason on August 9 against 2013 state champion Norcross.  This is a Saturday contest scheduled to kickoff at6:00 PM in Norcross.

The Vikings open the regular season on August 22 when they host Roswell High (5-6A).  This game is followed by home contests against Plant High (Tampa, FL) Drew High (4-5A), Rockdale County (2-6A) and Newton High (2-6A).

Region play begins the first weekend in October with the Vikings traveling to Colquitt.  There are five (5) region games including Camden, newcomer Lee County, Valdosta, and Tift. 

For the first time South Georgia will be the home to a multi-game classic.  On Friday, August 29, Martin Stadium will be host to two high quality football games.  In the first game beginning at 6:00 PM, Ware County will play Manatee High (Bradenton, FL).  This will be followed by host Lowndes taking on Plant High (Tampa, FL) at 9:00 PM. Manatee and Plant both play in Florida’s Class 8A.  Manatee finished 2013 with an 11-1 record while Plant finished 11-2-1.  They were ranked 4^th and 13^th respectively in the state of Florida by Max Preps.  Ware County (3-5A) went 11-2 in 2013 losing in the state quarterfinals to Tucker. 

Season ticket packages and information should be available by the first of April.
