LOWNDES CO. – Lowndes Vikings sports are participating in several region and state playoff events this week.

Our Vikings are participating in several region and state playoff events this week.  Yesterday our girls’ golf team rolled to the area and region titles.  They won going away and Catherine Odom was low medalist with a school record six under par 66.  Next up for girls’ golf is the state tournament in Carrollton in May.

Today our girls’ tennis team advanced to the Elite 8 as they defeated North Paulding 4-0.  They await the winner of Milton and Kennesaw Mountain to determine the next opponent, location, and date of the 3rd round. 

Tomorrow our soccer girls will play in the 2nd round of the state playoffs as they travel to Smyrna, Ga and will play Campbell High School.  Game time is 5:00 pm. 

Also tomorrow, Lowndes High School will host the Region 1-7A track meet.  The event begins at 10:00 am and continues all day.  Tickets for this event are $10 each as set by the region and are available via Go Fan or cash at the gate.  Fans should enter by way of the Board of Education and park in the football TD Club lot from 10:00 am – 3:30 pm. The admission gate is located there. After 3:30 pm, the main student parking lot will be open for parking and the main entrance will be open for fans.  The visitors’ lot of the stadium next to the track will not be open for parking.  Fans please do not enter LHS at the main entrance during school hours – you will be directed to exit and go enter at the BOE entrance.

On Thursday, April 25, our 2024 region champion baseball team begins state playoff play when they host the Newton Rams in the 1st round.  The first pitch of the Thursday doubleheader is set for 4:00 pm.  Admission for this event is $10 as set by GHSA.  Tickets are available via Go Fan or cash at the gate.
