Alabama-Based Restaurant Chain Raises Over $65K to Help Fight Hunger Across the South

The Chicken Salad Chick Foundation is proud to announce the outcome of their Hunger Action Month fundraiser that took place during September. The Foundation partnered with participating Chicken Salad Chick locations and their respective food banks to sell coupon books for their restaurants. Thanks to the team efforts of the Valdosta location, the Chicken Salad Chick Foundation will be making a donation to the Second Harvest of South Georgia in the amount of $2,689.15.

Second Harvest of South Georgia, the regional food bank, serves a 30-county area spanning nearly 13,000 square miles. The organization works with more than 400 partner agencies and operates a variety of programs to help fight hunger in the region. In the last year, the food bank distributed more than a million pounds of food a month.

“1 in 4 people struggle with hunger on a daily basis in our area, including 1 in 3 South Georgia kids,” said Second Harvest Chief Marketing Officer Eliza McCall. “We are so thankful to have great partners like the Chicken Salad Chick team who are dedicated to improving the community they serve.”

Throughout the month of September, over 16,000 coupon books were sold, resulting in over $65,000 donated to local food banks. Overall, this endeavor will provide over 300,000 meals to hungry families across six states. To continue their efforts to fight cancer and feed the hungry, the Chicken Salad Chick Foundation will host the first ever concert in Jordan-Hare Stadium on April 23, 2016. The Music & Miracles Superfest will feature Kenny Chesney, Miranda Lambert, Sam Hunt and Old Dominion! Additional information is available at www.musicandmiracles.com.
