SAN FRANCISCO – The top of the ninth inning at AT&T Park brought back bad memories for Braves fans of game four of the 2013 NLDS against the Dodgers.

Juan Uribe was up to bat late in the game against David Carpenter and put one into the left field seats to send the Dodgers to the NLCS.

On Saturday night, Uribe hit his first home run for the Braves. Even though the circumstances were a bit different, with the Braves already ahead of the Giants 6-0, it was good to erase some of those bad memories. Atlanta went on to win the game on Saturday 8-0.

Uribe told David O’Brien of the Atlanta Journal Constitution, “Main thing was we won the game. I had a good game, that’s great, it’s good for me and for the team. I helped my team win.”

Willimas Perez (NR) started the game for the Braves against former Giants ace, Tim Lincecum (5-2), in a game that the Braves really needed to win. Once again Perez continued to impress as he pitched seven innings of shut out ball, while earning his first career big league win. The Braves rookie has posted a 2.66 ERA in three starts so far and continues to exceed expectations.

Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford told MLB.com, “It’s tough when you’ve never seen a guy and he has good movement. I think that’s why we couldn’t get it going.”

The Braves hitters would get to Lincecum early and often by scoring a run in each inning from the second to the fifth innings, before adding four more in the eighth and ninth innings.

This was a good sign for Atlanta’s offense, who had not scored more than three runs in any of their last seven games.

Jace Peterson contributed three hits and scored three runs in the lead-off spot. Cameron Maybin and Andrelton Simmons would each provide two hits and two RBI. Juan Uribe had his first big game for the Braves, racking up three hits, including his second home run of the season.

The Braves will finish up the series in San Francisco on Sunday afternoon before heading off to Arizona to wrap up the West Coast road trip. It would be huge for the Braves to split the series with the Giants and get back to .500, after losing two of three to the Dodgers, and two of the first three to the Giants.

That will not be an easy task as the Braves will take on Giants ace, Madison Bumgarner (6-2), on Sunday from AT&T Park. Julio Teheran (4-2) will look to get back on track and will hope to get the same run support that Perez enjoyed in Saturday’s game. First pitch will come at 4:05 PM ET
