LOWNDES — Lowndes spring sports teams are competing for region titles and opening state playoff action this week.

As the spring sports season winds down, our teams are either competing for region championships or entering the state playoffs—and it’s an exciting time for Viking athletics.

Last week in Richmond Hill, both our boys’ and girls’ tennis teams captured region championships. Congratulations to Head Coaches Sam Teehee and Matt Futch! Both teams will host first-round playoff matches on Monday, April 20, against Collins Hill (Region 8-6A). Matches begin at 1:00 PM at the Lowndes Tennis Center on the campus of Lowndes High School. Admission is free, and fans are asked to park in the faculty lot.

Our track and golf teams will compete for their region championships on Tuesday and Wednesday, with Richmond Hill High School serving as the host site for both events.

Soccer state playoffs begin later this week. The boys’ team will travel to Buford for their first-round match on Friday, April 24. The girls’ team will host Mountain View on Thursday, April 23. Admission is $10 per person (as set by GHSA), and all fans—except infants in arms—must have a ticket. Game times will be announced as soon as they are finalized.

Congratulations to Head Coach Ryan Page and his staff on another outstanding baseball season, finishing with a 10–2 region record and earning the region championship. The team will host Mountain View in a doubleheader on Friday, April 24, at Noel George Field on the campus of Lowndes High School. Admission is $12 for the doubleheader, and all fans—except infants in arms—must have a ticket. If a third game is necessary, it will be played on Saturday, April 25.
