NCAA Football: Rose Bowl-Florida State vs Oregon

PASADENA — Florida State’s season and goal of a back-to-back National Championship run ended badly as Oregon took advantage of Seminole turnovers to win the first National College Football Semifinal Game 59-20 at the Rose Bowl.

An impressive Oregon team seemed poised to run away with the game early, but FSU kept the game close and only trailed 18-13 at the halftime, even after a missed Roberto Aguayo field goal to close out the half.

After a promising start to the second half for Florida State, Oregon showed its power and speed by posting five unanswered touchdown to put the game away.

FSU finishes the season at 13-1, and Jameis Winston saw his first loss as a collegiate player in two full seasons.  Oregon now will face Ohio State in the National Championship game on January 12 after the Buckeyes upset Alabama in the other semifinal game, the Sugar Bowl.

This was Florida State’s largest bowl loss ever and its largest margin of defeat in any game since 1983.
