Valdosta, Georgia) — The Kappa Psi Sigma Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. brought holiday cheer and meaningful connection to more than 70 residents at PruittHealth Fitzgerald, a skilled nursing and rehabilitation center.

Designed to provide comfort and encouragement during the holiday season, the outreach combined strategic planning, coordinated giving, and hands-on service so residents would feel dignity, warmth, and remembrance when connection matters most.

The project was organized and led by Tangy Hicks-Melton of Fitzgerald, Georgia. “Service is not simply an activity—it is a responsibility and a reflection of who we are as women of Sigma Gamma Rho. This initiative was centered on honoring our elders, spreading joy, and showing up with compassion. I am grateful for the collective effort of our chapter,” she said.

Chapter members supported the outreach through financial contributions, donated items, and volunteer time. Hicks-Melton, Chantel Arrington, Mary Anderson, and Pamela Stitt assembled holiday gift bags so each resident received a thoughtfully prepared present. Wearing the sorority’s signature royal blue and gold, members delivered more than gifts—they delivered presence, empathy, and genuine human connection. The Kappa Psi Sigma Chapter extends sincere appreciation to everyone who contributed, and especially to the PruittHealth Fitzgerald nursing staff for their collaboration and partnership in making the outreach successful.

This initiative reflects Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.’s ongoing mission to enhance quality of life
within communities through intentional service and collective action.
