FITZGERALD — The Ben Hill County Sheriff’s Office and the DEA Drug Diversion Unit arrested a Fitzgerald doctor after he was discovered giving narcotics to non-patients.

Doctor Edd C. Jones was arrested for nine felony warrants for writing prescriptions for a Schedule II Narcotic, and now faces a total of 20 felony charges.

Jones was arrested around 6:00 p.m. at his home on West Roanoke Ext. on Wednesday.

 

Jones was released from jail this afternoon around 1:00 p.m. on a property bond of $93,700.00 dollars.

The investigation is ongoing at this time.
