LOWNDES Co. – Safe Kids Lowndes County will offer a Car Seat Safety Checkup Event as part of Child Passenger Safety Month on September 24.
The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Walmart Supercenter at 340 Norman Drive in Valdosta.
Nationally certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians, Safe Kids Lowndes County, will host a car seat checkup event at Wal-Mart to make sure children in Lowndes County are riding safely in the car. The technicians will be teaching parents how to properly install car seats.
Road injuries are the leading cause of unintentional deaths to children in the United States. But correctly-used car seats can reduce the risk of death by as much as 71 percent. Seventy-three percent of car seats are not used or installed correctly, but we will have Certified Child Safety Seat Technicians on hand who will help. Safe Kids Lowndes County is working to help raise awareness and help children ride safer in the car.
