“The circle of life moves us all!”

VALDOSTA – The audience was moved as LaToya’s School of Dance students hit the stage to flaunt their finest routines Saturday at the Mathis City Auditorium.

This was the first-ever recital for the newly opened dance studio in Valdosta that was founded by LaToya Crawford.

“We chose The Lion King theme because almost everyone has seen the movie, and it sends a strong message of courage and unity,” said Crawford. “We teach more than dance. We teach character, confidence, and creativity, and this recital wrapped it all up in one.”

Nearly 200 spectators gathered to show their support for their favorite dancer. The show included students from its Valdosta and Lakeland facilities.

From hip hop, tap dance, ballet, and acrobats, the crowd was wowed the entire time.

Railyn Tucker was crowned Dancer of the Year for Valdosta, and Karyssa Ponder carried the title for Lakeland. These girls were crowned by Laila Harvey, the Thomasville Dancer of the Year.

“I really liked how all the girls and their parents came together to put on an amazing show for the Azalea City. We are working toward recital 2017,” Crawford said.

“I was so impressed with the entire show. I am signing my granddaughter up for the summer session,” said Sara Gatewood Bell.

LaToya’s School of Dance, LLC is hosting open house for Fall registration Friday, July 1st at 6:30pm at 1618 North Lee Street (Academy of Excellence) in Valdosta.
