VALDOSTA – The Georgia Department of Public Safety and the Georgia State Patrol assisted South Georgia Medical Center on Saturday in transporting a critical shipment of blood from Atlanta to Valdosta.
SGMC had a critical surgical case that diminished its blood supply.
Using a Post-to-Post relay process, various GSP troopers relayed the blood shipment from one GSP Post to the next in approximately two and a half hours.
The last leg of the relay was managed by GSP Trooper Slade Reid who delivered the critical shipment to SGMC.
