VALDOSTA — Valdosta State University Continuing Education will offer a six-week Math for Standardized Tests: SAT, ACT, and GRE course Jan. 25 through March 2.
Math for Standardized Tests: SAT, ACT, and GRE marks the return of VSU offering face-to-face test preparation instruction to the general public on campus in more than 10 years, said Sue Bailey, program coordinator. This type of opportunity was previously only available online.
Math for Standardized Tests: SAT, ACT, and GRE will be taught by Dr. Jonghoon Kang, an associate professor in VSU’s Department of Biology from 5 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays. It is ideal for high school juniors and seniors who have already taken algebra and trigonometry and college students interested in attending graduate school.
Registration is available online at www.valdosta.edu/ce or by calling (229) 245-6484. This course costs $89 for those who register byTuesday, Jan. 19, and $99 thereafter. No textbook is required, and all handouts will be provided. The instructor’s goal is to help students acquire and reinforce mathematical literacy so that they may perform better on standardized tests.
“I believe that providing academic and scholarly service to the community should be one of the goals that a university must bear in mind,” said Kang, who referred to mathematics as the single most important subject in terms of a student’s future academic success at the collegiate level. “I am happy for this opportunity to serve and appreciate the Continuing Education staff for helping me develop this course.”
Math for Standardized Tests: SAT, ACT, and GRE will meet in the Hugh C. Bailey Science Center.
