World War II is but a memory and only something in the history books for most of us. However, the similarities of what is going on in the world now, versus the 1930s are stark. Russia’s actions are similar to Germany and China’s actions have been similar to Japan’s leading up to World War II.

The real aggression began in 1928 with Japan joining with anti imperial forces in Northern China. This type of incursion is similar to what Russia has done in Ukraine and is now doing in Syria.

Both China and Russia are annexing areas much like the Axis did leading up to WW2. Russia has annexed Crimea and is continuing to work to get more of Ukraine. China is annexing ocean by artificially creating islands that are destroying atoll ecosystems.

China and Russia are hosting Olympics at every turn just like Germany did in an effort to be viewed as world powers.

Both Russia and China are having economic issues that are going to get worse before they get better much like the woes of Germany in the 30s. The leaders hope that external conflicts will distract the populace and cause them to join together against perceived enemies. This distraction is supposed to keep the people from complaining about how much they suffer.

In response, the leaders of the world are doing nothing of substance. President Obama is an appeaser just like Chamberlain was in the 30s which exacerbates the problem. Whether by design or incompetence, the President has only strengthened the resolve of our enemies.

The treaty with Iran is the most glaring symbol of appeasement. The treaty removes economic sanctions, gives money, and has the most ridiculous statements of non inspections ever created with a country that has vowed to wipe another (which is our ally) off the map. Iran gets to decide when, where and how inspection of their facilities occur.

Make no mistake. Russia and China are our enemies. Both attack us at every turn. China constantly attempts (often successfully) to infiltrate our electronic security measures and do damage, as well as, creating discord in their region with their neighbors who are pleading for our help. Russia attacks our interests overseas by subversion and military incursion. Ukraine was set to join NATO and Mr. Putin made certain to put an end to that and take Crimea in turn. Now he is bombing our allies in Syria.

And we do nothing.

Throw in North Korea, ISIS, Iran, and the various terrorists making the world practically a free for all at the moment.

The world needs some sanity. There must be consequences to aggression. Economic sanctions have their effect but they have to be maintained. Like it or not, money talks. Subversion is a great tactic. In this world of widespread technology, it is much easier to get the Truth out there. When arms are taken up, arms need to be the response. As President Theodore Roosevelt stated, “Speak softly and carry a big stick.”
