VALDOSTA — During the week of March 23-27, Valdosta Early College Academy celebrated National Early College Week. Early College High School Week is an annual celebration of the successes of early college high schools across the country. Early College Designs enable more students, particularly low-income and minority students, to experience rigorous high school and college coursework that leads to improved outcomes.

On Monday, March 23, 2015 Mayor John Gayle celebrated with VECA by issuing a proclamation in observance of National Early College Week and VECA’s commitment to giving students in 6th through 12th grades the opportunity to excel academically. Mayor Gayle joined VECA’s Legacy Class of 2015 and the Class of 2016 in a photo along with Ms. Ingrid Hall, principal, Mrs. Lanita McDuffie, legacy teacher, Mrs. Scarlet Brown, assistant superintendent of teaching and learning, and Mr. Brian Gerber, interim dean of education at Valdosta State University. This school year, VECA will hold its first graduation for the legacy class of 2015.
