rp_primary_Chris_RogersVALDOSTA – Valdosta State’s Chris Rogers rallied from a three-stroke deficit entering the final round to win the 74th annual Jack Oliver Invitational Sunday.

Rogers, who is entering his first season with the Blazers after transfering from ABAC, shot a 73 in Friday’s first round to fall eight strokes behind the tournament leader. He rebounded with a 70 in Saturday’s second round to move to within three strokes of the lead. The Dawson, GA native started fast in Sunday’s final round and grabbed a two-stroke lead over the first nine holes of play before Sam Hogan rallied over the second nine, tying Rogers, who shot a final round 71, at 214 to force a playoff.

Both players parred the 18th on the first play-off hole while a Hogan sand save as the two again played 18 forced the pair to the third playoff hole. Moving to the 10th, Hogan missed a par putt while Rogers rolled his in to claim the title.

Rogers and the rest of the Blazers open their 2014-15 season Monday, September 15 when they open play in the Kiawah Island Invitational at Kiawah Island, S.C.
