Facing pressure to implement more restrictive measures to help stop the spread of COVID-19, Governor Brian Kemp held a press conference Monday, where he banned gatherings of more than 10 people, and made the following key announcements:
- Bars and nightclubs ordered to close.
- Georgia Department of Public Health given jurisdiction to shut down those businesses who do not observe health regulations, including nonprofits and churches.
- All “medically fragile” residents asked to shelter in place until April 6.
- Kemp urges residents to hold themselves and others accountable and to report noncompliance to the DPH.
