TALLAHASSEE, Fl — During a press conference held on Tuesday, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced that state testing for the 2019-2020 school year will be canceled. WCTV reports that parents can decide to have their child repeat the grade in the 2021 school year.

Requirements for graduation, grade promotion, and final course grades will be evaluated as if state testing does not exist. Florida school districts are to use remote teaching methods as the schools will be closed until April 15 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Unspent 2019-2020 funds are to be used to help low-income students get digital devices and internet connection for them to participate in remote instruction.
