ATLANTA – A new nationwide survey ranks Georgia in the top 10 states that are the most Kentucky Derby-devoted.

With the Kentucky Derby fast approaching (May 4th), they mapped out which states are the most Derby-devoted through a nationwide survey and weighted index: in-person attendance, streaming plans, hosting/attending themed parties, Derby attire, Mint Julep and Southern dish consumption, horse games, and betting plans.
Here’s how Georgia scored:
- Georgia ranks 8th nationwide, with a score of 35.6/100
- 5.7% will attend the race in-person – the 5th highest nationwide
- Of the 50% that will bet, they average a wage of $118.63 – 68% more than the national average ($70.80) and the 4th highest state average
- 64% of Georgians plan to celebrate by consuming classic Derby dishes
