Valdosta house fire claims the life of community member

VALDOSTA – Valdosta Fire Department investigates a house fire that tragically resulted in a community member’s death.

On Saturday, March 3, 2024, at approximately 10:47 P.M., the Valdosta Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 2803 Tyndall Drive which tragically resulted in the death of a member of our community. The first fire unit arrived on scene within five minutes to find heavy smoke and flames showing from a single-family residence.

Seventeen firefighters responded and initiated an aggressive fire attack and a primary search of the home to discover one occupant in conditions that were not favorable to sustain life.

Two other residents were not present at the time of the incident and are currently receiving assistance from the American Red Cross.

The Valdosta Police Department and SGMC Health EMS assisted on scene.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The Valdosta Fire Department extends its deepest condolences to the family and loved ones affected by this heartbreaking incident.
