VALDOSTA – The City of Valdosta will participate in “Georgia Cities Week” to honor the contributions of cities across the state.

The City of Valdosta proudly announces its participation in “Georgia Cities Week,” scheduled from April 21 to April 27, 2024. This annual celebration aims to recognize and honor the invaluable contributions of cities across the state. Under the theme “Soaring to New Heights,” Valdosta is set to host a series of exciting events throughout the week.

“We’re thrilled to announce the City of Valdosta’s participation in Georgia Cities Week,” Mayor Scott James Matheson expressed. “It’s an opportunity to showcase the pride we have in our city and the vital services it offers. Through this celebration, we aim to highlight our commitment to community engagement, setting a course for even greater heights.”

The schedule of events for Georgia Cities Week in Valdosta is as follows:

Monday | April 22

GA Cities Week Proclamation at Customer Service: The Mayor will present a proclamation in recognition of the official Georgia Cities Week of activities.

Human Resources Grab-n-Go Employee Lunch: The Human Resources department will show appreciation for employees by providing a grab-and-go lunch.

Tuesday | April 23

Utilities Day: The Utilities Department will visit Valdosta Early College Academy to present information and goodies for the students as they learn about clean water and the F.O.G. program.

Wednesday | April 24

Valdosta Main Street Food Truck Crawl: Experience a delectable adventure through the heart of Downtown Valdosta with the Valdosta Main Street Food Truck Crawl. From 11 am to 1 pm, indulge in a variety of mouthwatering cuisines served up by top-notch food trucks.

Thursday | April 25

Coffee with the Chiefs: Join the Police and Fire Chief for coffee at Zacadoo’s from 7:00 am to 9:00 am. Enjoy coffee, conversations, and a photo opportunity with the chiefs.

Friday | April 26

Public Works Touch-A-Truck: Conclude Georgia Cities Week with the Public Works Touch-A-Truck event. Explore an array of fascinating trucks and heavy machinery up close from 10 am to noon at 1017 Myrtle Street. Free registration is required.  To register: https://tinyurl.com/24TouchATruck .

Cities across Georgia will be celebrating Georgia Cities Week, sponsored by the Georgia Municipal Association (GMA). GMA is a voluntary, non-profit organization based in Atlanta, providing legislative advocacy, educational, employee benefits, and consulting services to its 536 member cities.
