LOWNDES, CO. – The Lowndes County Schools announces the approval of the new Principal of Lowndes High School.

The Lowndes County Board of Education approved Superintendent Sandra Wilcher’s recommendation to name Krista Pearson Principal of Lowndes High School.

Pearson enters the Principal role with great experience and expertise, as her career at LHS spans nearly 30 years. She began as a math teacher, before taking on her most recent role as Associate Principal. In this position, she played a vital role in carrying out tasks such as creating the master schedule, organizing graduation and honors night, overseeing the guidance department, supervising the math department, and facilitating school improvement initiatives.

Her unwavering commitment to education and servant leadership has been evident throughout her career. She has twice been named LHS Teacher of the Year, Lowndes County Schools District Teacher of the Year, and has been a finalist for Georgia Teacher of the Year. 

Pearson’s school-level success earned her more state-wide attention as her career advanced. In 2022, she was rightfully recognized by the Georgia Association of Secondary School Principals as the Georgia Assistant Principal of the Year. 

While Pearson’s career success speaks for itself, her educational background further solidifies her credibility. She is a three-time graduate of Valdosta State University with a Bachelor’s and Master’s in Secondary Education in Mathematics and a Specialist in Educational Leadership.
