Valdosta man arrested for narcotics during traffic stop

VALDOSTA – A Valdosta man was arrested for narcotics during a traffic stop by the Valdosta Police Department.

Arrested: Demetrius Davis, African American male, 33 years of age, Valdosta resident

On May 12, 2023, at approximately 1:30 pm., detectives with the Valdosta Police Department Narcotics Unit conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 700 block of East Force Street. While investigating the traffic stop, detectives observed narcotics in the passenger compartment of the vehicle. The passenger, Demetrius Davis, 33 years of age, was detained. Inside the vehicle, detectives found over 142 grams of cocaine, 53 grams of marijuana, and tools, along with currency, which is commonly related to the sales of narcotics.

Davis was arrested without incident and transported to Lowndes County Jail. He has been charged with:

  • Possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute-felony;
  • Possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute-felony;
  • Possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a park-felony;
  • Possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a park-felony; and
  • Possession of drug-related objects-misdemeanor.

“This was great work by our detectives to locate these dangerous narcotics and seize them, before they could get on the streets.” Said Chief Leslie Manahan.
