VALDOSTA – A man is arrested after firing shots at the Kash Food Mart on Troup Street following a failed attempt to steal merchandise.

Release:

On April 17, 2022, at approximately 7:48 pm., Valdosta Police Department Patrol Officers responded to Kash Food Mart convenience store, 1305 North Troup Street, after a store employee called E911 and reported that a customer had shot at the store.

When officers arrived on the scene, the clerk stated a customer, later identified as Jazzmon Finley, attempted to take merchandise that he did not pay for. This started an argument between Finley and the store clerk.

The investigation showed Finley left the business and entered a vehicle. Prior to leaving the parking lot, Finley shot at the store multiple times.

Responding officers shared a description of Finley and the vehicle he left the scene in with other on-duty officers. One of those officers recalled speaking with Finley at an apartment earlier on the same day. Officers responded to the apartment complex and located both Finley and the vehicle. Finley was detained without incident.

No injuries were reported during this incident. Finley was arrested and transported to Lowndes County Jail where he was charged with the following:

· Aggravated Assault-felony.

“We are grateful no one was seriously injured during this incident. These officers did a great job sharing information and working together which led to this offender being quickly identified, located, and arrested,” Captain Scottie Johns.
