Valdosta 911 call leads to drugs, stolen handgun

On August 4, 2020, at approximately 9 pm, a patrol officer responded to the 1300 block of Sterling Place, after a citizen called 911 about a suspicious vehicle that was improperly parked in the roadway. Upon arrival, the officer made contact with Armonta Waters, who was sitting in the vehicle. The officer immediately detected a strong odor of marijuana emitting from inside of the vehicle. When asked about the smell, Waters handed the officer a small bag containing marijuana. Waters was detained and the vehicle was searched. The search resulted in the location of a handgun that had been reported stolen out of Lowndes County. Waters was transported to Lowndes County Jail on the following charges:

Theft by receiving stolen property-Felony

Possession of marijuana-Misdemeanor
