Release:

On April 27, 2020, at approximately 6:07 pm., Valdosta Police Officers were in the 2000 block of South Sherwood Drive, investigating the theft of a motor vehicle. The victim reported that De’Vonta Brundidge had taken her vehicle without her permission. Officers observed Brundidge in the front passenger seat of another vehicle, which was being driven by Kevin Adams. Officers were familiar with Brundidge and were aware that he had unrelated active arrest warrants. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle and Brundidge immediately ran from the vehicle. After a short foot pursuit, officers apprehended Brundidge. While chasing Brundidge, officers observed him drop a bookbag and a white grocery bag while running. When officers recovered the two bags, they located a large amount of currency, a handgun, and marijuana. Inside the vehicle, officers found another bag that had currency, along with a quantity of marijuana. Officers seized over 3.7 pounds of marijuana, over $10,500 in currency, and a handgun.

Both Brundidge and Adams were transported to Lowndes County Jail.

Adams is charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute-felony.

Brundidge is charged with:

  • Possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute-felony;
  • Possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime-felony;
  • Theft by taking motor vehicle-felony; and
  • Obstruction of an officer-misdemeanor.

“This was an excellent job by our officers while investigating this case. Because of their persistence, a quantity of illegal narcotics and a handgun were taken off the streets.” Chief Leslie Manahan.
