VFD Responds to Structure Fire on East Park Avenue

On Sunday, April 12, 2020, the Valdosta Fire Department responded to the report of fire in an apartment building at 1425 E. Park Ave. The call was received from dispatch at 01:40 A.M.

The first fire unit arrived within two minutes and reported flames coming from the second floor.  Crews brought the fire under control within fifteen minutes. 

Occupants were in the process of evacuating when fire units arrived. Four units were damaged during the fire, displacing fourteen people. The Red Cross was called in to assist with the displaced occupants. 

The Valdosta Police Department and South Georgia Medical Center EMS assisted with on scene operations. A total of 21 VFD personnel were on scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
