Release:
On April 15, 2020, at approximately 9:30 pm, patrol officers with the Valdosta Police Department responded to the 1300 block North Troup Street, to investigate a shoplifting case. Upon arrival officers located and detained the offender, later identified as Antonio McGee. After determining that McGee had shoplifted a beer from the store, officers began to walk him to a patrol vehicle. McGee then related he had the coronavirus and began spitting on the officers while telling them they were going to die. McGee was transported to Lowndes County Jail on the following charges:
Theft by Shoplifting (Misdemeanor)
Simple Battery against Police Officer (Misdemeanor)
Simple Battery against Police Officer (Misdemeanor)
Simple Battery against Police Officer (Misdemeanor)
Terroristic Threats and Acts (Felony)
Obstruction of Law Enforcement Officers (Misdemeanor)
