VALDOSTA, Ga. – On October 17, 2019, at approximately 6:45 p.m., a female drove herself to the police department and reported that she had been shot while at a residence in the 900 block of Ponderosa Drive, according to a Valdosta Police Department report.

The victim had a gunshot wound to the lower part of her torso. Officers and detectives quickly began to investigate the incident. The victim reported being in a dispute with Raekwon Glover, who pulled out a gun and shot her. Detectives obtained arrest warrants on Glover for:

  • Aggravated assault-felony; and
  • Possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony-felony.

Officers and detectives had been looking for Glover since the warrants were obtained, but they had been unable to locate him.

On November 29, 2019, a detective was working an off-duty job in the area of the 900 block of Old Statenville Road. The detective heard noises that led him to believe a vehicle was driving recklessly in the area. When the detective arrived in the area, the vehicle tried to flee from him, but he was able to stop it quickly.

Upon stopping the vehicle, Glover, who was a passenger in the vehicle, jumped out of the vehicle and began to run. The detective and officers pursued Glover and were able to catch him. Glover was transported to Lowndes County Jail, on the previous arrest warrants, along with:

  • Obstruction of an officer-misdemeanor.

Glover also had an active arrest warrant for probation violation, as well as several traffic offenses, which were also served on him.

“Our officers and detectives did an incredible job in their persistence to take this dangerous subject off of the streets,” said Valdosta Police Chief Leslie Manahan.
