BOSTON – Boston, Georgia mayor Danny Gruber has confirmed to Valdosta Today that Boston is not closing its Police Department, as was reported earlier by Valdosta Today and other media outlets.
In an exclusive interview with Valdosta Today, Gruber confirmed that the city is in the process of replacing several officers, including former Chief Andra Williams, who was terminated due to policy infractions.
Gruber noted that Williams violated city policy standards relating to misconduct and bringing discredit to the police department and city. He had been placed on suspended status with pay, but has since been terminated.
Boston has since hired one full time officer and one part time officer. When completed, the force will again hold 4 positions including the chief.
