VALDOSTA — Lowndes County Sheriff’s Officers arrested a man on Friday, after attempting to rob a Dollar General employee at gunpoint.

The robber, 29-year-old Chad Griffis approached the employee around 1:30 on May 4, in the Dollar General parking lot on 5953 U.S. Highway 84 East in Naylor.

A probation officer with the Valdosta probation office recognized the description of the man the employee provided as a probationer.

Griffis was arrested for violation of probation and received charges of criminal attempt to commit armed robbery.

Griffis is now located in Lowndes County Jail awaiting an arraignment hearing.
