VALDOSTA — A man was arrested after breaking into a home on 1503 Slater Street, on Tuesday. Around 11:26 p.m., The Valdosta Police Department responded to a report of a suspicious African American male in the middle of the road, rummaging through a book bag.
The man was standing near Brookwood Circle, next to Drexel Park when he hid a laptop in some bushes.
The Residents of the home found the police in the area and reported that they had come home to their back door open and multiple items missing.
The residents reported they were missing a back pack, laptop, Xbox game console, Xbox games, and a digital camera.
Valdosta State University Police assisted the VPD to help locate the subject. The VSU Police found a man matching the description on campus and detained him near the Fine Arts Building.
The suspect, Drevon Jones was identified as the person they were looking for. Jones had many of the stolen property on him at the time of his arrest. He also had 9.25 grams of marijuana in his possession.
Jones was taken to Lowndes County Jail and charged with Burglary and Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana.
The stolen property was returned to the proper owners.
