AMERICUS — Americus city council members voted to hire its first city manager on Tuesday.

City council members voted on Steve Kennedy for the position. Kennedy served as former city manager for the city of Kennesaw and as Chief Financial Officer for Thomasville.

On April 15, Kennedy will fill his position as Chief Administrative Officer, and on July 1, his title will change to City Manager.
