Proposed TGV By-Laws Change
The Board is proposing a change to the TGV By-Laws to add the position of “Technology Committee Chair” and remove/absorb into other positions the roles of “Gingerbread Players Chair” and “Community Liaison and Director at Large.”
As TGV moves into the future, technology is increasingly added to our inventory, building, and productions. The Board feels that TGV needs a Technology Committee Chair to be a part of our day to day functions.
The Technology Committee Chair will hold the following duties:
Keep an inventory of all electronics
Keep a log of warranties on electronics
Perform routine software upgrades on electronics
Know how to use each item in order to train each show operator
Work with Public Relations Publicity Chair to maintain video screens in will call window and lobby
Appoint webmaster, with board approval
Order stage lighting bulbs as needed
Maintain video security cameras
Work with show directors to execute technical elements of the production
Maintain Clavinova (TGV’s digital piano and synthesizer)
In viewing current board position responsibilities we realized some duties overlapped and could be absorbed by other positions.
In the past, The Gingerbread Players were a completely separate functioning arm of TGV. However, over the years they have merged and now operate in the same way our Mainstage works. The current duties of the Gingerbread Players Chair are to coordinate play selection and vet potential show directors. These duties are currently being handled by other positions, Play Reading and Vice President. We are proposing that these two roles absorb the duties and position of Gingerbread Players Chair, changing the name of Play Selection Chair to “Mainstage and Gingerbread Players Play Selection Chair.”
When TGV originated and worked under LVAC the position of “Member at Large” was created to act as a point of contact between the two groups. As this position evolved the duties were also close to what other positions were, or could, complete. Currently the duty of “Member at Large” is to serve as a liaison with the community and coordinate TGV Dinner & a Show with downtown restaurants, which also falls close to duties carried out by the Membership Committee Chair. Other duties, such as serving as an archivist and communicating with local news media, could easily fall under the Public Relations Publicity Chair’s duties.
